Every document being rejected

Hi everyone,

I do not know what to do. I have uploaded multiple documents all of which are dated today, include the term dates, my full name, the name, seal, and logo of my university, my University ID number, etc.

The fact that a literal Enrollment Verification Letter is being rejected is utterly ridiculous. I went to open a ticket for manual review and got a popup saying that they no longer offer manual review and to post here.

What hoops do I have to jump through to get the most straight forward letter in the entire world actually read?

This is a common issue with the automated verification system. Since manual reviews are limited, try these specific steps to get the system to recognize your document:

Check the Image Quality: Ensure there is no glare on the document and that all four corners are visible. The AI often rejects images if the lighting is uneven.

Translation: If your document isn't in English, GitHub's AI sometimes struggles. Try providing a side-by-side photo of the original and a translated version if possible.

Use the Mobile App: Many users find better success using the GitHub Mobile app to take the photo directly, as it uses different processing than the desktop upload.

Browser/Location: Make sure your browser's location services are ON. GitHub checks if your IP address matches the general location of your University to prevent fraud.

If these fail, you can try reaching out via their Support Portal, though a community answer here is usually faster!

I literally used OBS to capture the screen, so there is no chance of glare or anything. I also tried from my phone, though I noticed that it is completely readable until it "captures" the image then it is blurry and I am unable to read it.

Location services are on on both devices.
Document is in English from a major US university.

Since it's getting blurry only after the 'capture' on mobile, it sounds like the browser’s camera compression is killing the quality.

Try these two things:

Desktop Upload (High Res): Instead of using the live camera, take a high-resolution photo with your phone's actual camera app (not the browser), transfer it to your PC, and upload the static file.

Check the 'Student ID' vs 'Document' toggle: Sometimes the system expects a card but gets a letter (or vice versa). Ensure you've selected 'Dated Enrollment Letter' in the dropdown before uploading.

Contrast: Place the document on a dark background (like a black desk or cloth). This helps the auto-focus lock onto the white paper and prevents that blurriness.

How do I do that? There is no visible option to simply upload a file.

I would print it and take a photo but I don't currently own a functioning printer.

The upload button is hidden by default to force people to use a live camera. To get the 'Upload' option to show up, try these steps:

On Desktop: Instead of clicking 'Start Camera,' try to block camera access in your browser settings for that page. When the browser fails to find a camera, GitHub sometimes reveals a 'Upload an image' link as a fallback.

On Mobile: Open the page in incognito/private mode or a browser where you haven't granted camera permissions. Often, if the live stream fails or is denied, it will let you 'Select from Gallery.'

The 'Switch Camera' Trick: On some mobile browsers, if you tap the camera icon to 'flip' the camera and it fails, the 'Upload' text link appears below the black box.

If the live capture keeps coming out blurry, it’s usually because the browser isn't triggering the 'Autofocus' on your phone's lens. Taking a static photo and using the 'fallback' upload is your best bet!

For whatever reason, I could not get the site to present the fallback on my desktop, even after blocking camera access.

However, overriding the react component from the sources portion of the dev tools did the trick. I was able to get the upload button and just got the approval notification.
